About Jay C. Adkins, DDS
Dr. Jay C. Adkins was raised in Lubbock, Texas, earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, and his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
Dr. Adkins participates in the Seattle Study Club, a continuing education organization dedicated to the advancement and training of dentists in team treatment planning to achieve optimal results. Dr. Adkins has served on the TDA Board of Directors, multiple committees within the State Board of Dental Examiners, and in the ADA House of Delegates. He also has served for ten years on the Board of the Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation Board. The Texas Mission of Mercy events are a passion and ministry that Dr. Adkins has been a part of since its inception. He has also had the honor of being nominated for Dentist of the Year in Texas by the Academy of General Dentistry in 2003, 2009 and 2012.
Dr. Adkins has served as president of the Greater Lubbock Rotary Club, on the Board of Directors for the Parenting Cottage and has served in leadership positions at Second Baptist Church. Dr. Adkins and his wife Dee Dee have two daughters, Dr. Summer C. Ketron and Dr. Camille Ketron. Camille is an audiologist in Austin, TX and Summer has recently joined the dental practice.
About Summer C. Ketron, DDS
Dr. Summer Ketron is a native Lubbockite; in fact she is the step-daughter of Dr. Jay Adkins. After attending Monterey High School and both the University of Texas and Texas Tech Universities as an undergrad student, Dr. Ketron studied Immunology at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. She graduated from the University Of Texas School Of Dentistry in Houston and completed a General Practice Residency at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. During residency she completed competency in IV sedation. While in dental school Dr. Ketron was voted president of her graduating class. She finished a successful senior year by being awarded the International College of Dentists Senior Student Leadership Award, the Texas Dental Association Outstanding Senior Dental Student award, the Greater Houston Dental Society Student of the Year Award and the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology Horace Wells Senior Student Award.
Dr. Ketron is a member of the prestigious Seattle Study Club, which is a network of professional dental study groups dedicated to ideal comprehensive dental care. Dr. Ketron’s other professional memberships include the Academy of General Dentistry, the Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, and American Society of
Dr. Ketron serves on the Texas Dental Association for General Convention and the Committee for the New Dentist and the New Dentist Committee for the Texas Association of General Dentistry.
Dr. Ketron recently moved back to Lubbock to join her step-father’s practice and she feels privileged to have his mentorship.
